Coming off a rough start Wednesday for the Butler baseball team, Brian Warheit scattered six hits in seven innings in a 3-0 shutout victory Friday over Kiski Area.

Warheit struck out eight and walked two in the complete-game win. Warheit didn't get out of the first inning Wednesday.

Jordan Roycroft drove in two runs with a triple in the top of the fifth inning to give the Golden Tornado (9-8, 4-6) some breathing room.

In other games:

• Cory Massart hit a two-run home run in the fifth inning and drove in four runs as Freeport took a 5-0 lead in the first inning and cruised to a 7-4 win over West Shamokin.

Justin Bollinger got the win for the Yellowjackets (8-8, 5-5) and J.P.Samay earned the save.

• Austin Leffler hit a two- run home run and JustinMcGowan added a homer and a double as Knoch won its second game in as many days, 5-2, over Highlands.

Dave Govan pitched a two-hitter for the Knights (3-13).

Knoch beat Freeport 4-1 Thursday night. Derrick Clark got the win in that game.

The Butler boys team concluded its season Thursday by scoring a meet-leading 127 points at the North Allegheny Invitational.Winning their respective events for the Golden Tornado were the 3,200-meter relay quartet of Matt Pribis, Cody Hartman, Cody West and Evan Gomez with a meet and school-record time of 9:04.08 seconds, Pribis in the 110 hurdles with a time of 17.4, Hartman in the 400 with a time of 55.6 and the 1,600-meter relay team of Cole Baxter, Carols Sanchez, Hartman and Gomez in 3:49.57.Finishing second in their respective events were Darius Hightower in the 100 and 200 meters, Jordan Allen in the shot put, Brandon Taylor in the high jump and the 400-meter relay team of Hightower, Jason Glasgow, Jon McAvoy and Jay Swiagart.Placing third were Matt Rekich in the 110 hurdles, Pribis in the 800, Adam Steiner in the shot put, Taylor in the triple jump and Glasgow in the pole vault.
