Seneca, Mars boys advance

The Seneca Valley boys track team sprinted to victory at the WPIAL Class AAA semifinals at Norwin Wednesday afternoon.

Sprinters Jim Burry, Frank Campisino and Chris Eden helped the Raiders sweep their events on the way to an 80-70 win over Norwin, a 116-34 win over CentralCatholic and a 120-30 win over McKeesport.

Seneca Valley advances to the team championships next Thursday.

"We did real well in sprints, and that was a big boost for us," said Seneca Valley coach Wayne Roccia.

In other WPIAL meets:

• Justin Stadelmyer ran a leg on the winning 3,200 relay team and won the 3,200 run as Mars cruised past Rochester (105-45), Mohawk (110-40) and Bentworth (116-34), advancing to the WPIAL Class AA team finals next Thursday

• The Mars girls were swept in the Class AAA meet at Baldwin, falling to Mt. Lebanon 115-35, Penn Hills 84-65, Peters Township 80-59 and Plum 77-73.
