Betty Ann Salopek
Betty Ann Salopek, 70, of Butler passed away Saturday at her home after a 3-year battle with cancer.
Born Jan. 8, 1937, in Green-ville, she was a daughter of the late John and Ann Sokac Filetic.
She was valedictorian of the 1955 graduating class at Butler High School.
Shortly after high school, she met and married John F. Salopek, originally of Duquesne, on July 22, 1955, while he was serving in the Air Force. In the early days of their marriage, she worked at the People's Telephone Co., Heckett Engineering and Pullman Standard.
She had a lifelong love of dogs and all animals and is survived by her beloved cocker spaniel, Penny.
In addition to her husband of 51 years, she is survived by four sisters, Lillian Porter of Butler and Sally Mocker, Jane Filetic, and Cathy Keefer, all of California; and a niece and nephew, Debby Block and Jon Keefer, both of California.
<B>SALOPEK</B> — There will be no public visitation. A Mass of Christian burial for Betty Ann Salopek, who died Saturday, March 31, 2007, will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church. Private burial services will follow at the Calvary Cemetery.The St. Paul Guild and Christian Mothers will recite the rosary at 10:10 a.m. Tuesday at the church.A heartfelt thank-you is extended to the staff of the VNA Hospice for all the care, support and compassion given in the past several months.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the VNA Hospice Program, 154 Hindman Road, Butler, PA 16001; St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 N.
