Zelienople sets hydrant flushing starting May 10

ZELIENOPLE — Starting May 10, the borough will begin its hydrant flushing program for the year.

Crews will flush hydrants in these areas from midnight to 8 a.m.:

• May 10 — Passavant Health Center, Luther Court, Glade Run Foundation, Wittenberg Place, Green Lane, Arthur Street, Chestnut Street, Walnut Street.

• May 11 — West Grandview Avenue, Halstead Boulevard, West New Castle Street, Jefferson Street, Clay Street.

• May 15 — Woodland Apartments, Timberbrook Plan, Madison Drive, Rosewood Plan.

• May 16 — Streets east of Main Street including Terrace Heights and Park Lane.

• May 17 — Fairview Heights, Perry Way, Main Street.

• May 18 — McKim Street, Hazel Street, Pine Street, Spruce Street, Hemlock Square.

The borough said residents should expect discolored water during the flushings.

It also recommends residents test cold water before laundering or using large amounts of water. Residents should not test hot water because it will fill the hot water tank with discolored water, the borough said.

If laundry should become stained, the borough suggests discontinuing the use of water immediately. Keep the stained laundry damp until the discolored water clears and use non-chlorine bleach to relaunder. Do not use chlorine bleach.
