The Butler boys track and field team sent two relay teams to the 113th annual Penn Relays in Philadelphia over the weekend.

The 400-meter relay team of Jason Fair, Doug Moran, Casey Piper and Fred Pinto was clocked at 44.71.

The 1,600 relay team of Mason McLaughlin, Fred Pinto, Casey Piper and Doug Moran ran a personal-best time of 3:26.18.

n The Slippery Rock boys and girls squads competed in the Blackhawk 9-10 Grade Invitational Saturday with the boys capturing the team championship.

Issac Osborne (110 hurdles), Ethan Geisler (300 hurdles), Derrick Orloski (javelin) and the 1,600-meter relay team all grabbed first-place finishes.

Brant Sloan pulled off a unique effort, grabbing first, second, third and fourth places in the 1,600 relay, long jump, high jump and triple jump, respectively.

In the girls meet, Angie Shaffer won the high jump with a leap of 5-0.

Seneca Valley dropped a 1-0 decision to Bethel Park in the championship final of the Seneca Valley Invitational Saturday.The Raiders had defeated Keystone Oaks and the Black Hawks downed Pine-Richland by 1-0 scores in the semifinals.Seneca Valley had defeated Our Lady of the Sacred Heart in the quarterfinals.
