"A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum" will be presented May 4-5 in the auditorium at Butler High School. The story takes place in Rome 200 years before the birth of Christ.

Butler High School's Thespian spring musical show next weekend will be the comedy "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum."

Performances are set for 7:30 p.m. May 4 and 5 at the Butler Senior High auditorium.

Tickets are $5 and available at May's Music Shoppe on East Jefferson Street or at the door.

Based on the book by Burt Shevelove and Larry Gelbart with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, the story takes place in Rome 200 years before Christ.

It revolves around the antics of a manic Roman slave, Pseudolus, who gets himself and those around him into much trouble as he tries to finagle his freedom.

The show is being directed by Dale VanLaningham, with Stephanie Marshall as choreographer and Bev Antis as vocal director.
