Golden Tornado rip through Titans

Brian Warheit pitched a complete game, limiting Shaler to four hits and three walks as the Butler baseball team rolled past the Titans 8-1 Thursday.

Darren Blakely, Dustin Uhlman, Andy Onufrak and Jordan Roycroft accounted for seven RBI and eight of Butler's 10 hits.

In other games:

• Danny Keil hit a home run, singled twice, drove in three runs and picked up the win on the mound as Grove City rolled to a 14-0 win over Commodore Perry.

The Eagles (9-1) scored double-digit runs for the eighth time in the last nine games.

• Zach Zollner hit a three-run home run in the top of the first inning for Mars, but the Planets (5-7, 2-4) fell to Highlands 10-3.

• Freshman D.J. Ethriedge drove home Nate Boltz with a bloop single in the bottom of the seventh inning to give Union a 3-2 win over Karns City.

Chase Stewart picked up the win for the Golden Knights (8-1). Cameron Turner pitched well for the Gremlins (3-7) in the loss, striking out seven in six-plus innings.

Elizabeth Small scored four goals, but Butler fell to Shaler 8-7 in overtime Thursday night.Sara Schweiger scored two goals, and Katresa Savisky added another for the Golden Tornado (2-9).Fox Chapel 10, Knoch 5 —Paige Macadaeg and Hilary Rihn each scored two goals, for the Knights.Chrissy Harbison also scored a goal for Knoch (1-9-1).
