Glomb fans 15 in Mars' win vs. Kittanning

Pitcher Monica Glomb struck out 15 and recorded a three-hit shutout as the Mars softball team defeated Kittanning, 2-0, Tuesday.

Emma Wharrey had a double, a single andan RBIfor the Planets.

In other games:

• Courtney Grootegoed homered, singled twice and drove home three runs as Seneca Valley remained unbeaten with an 11-3 win over FoxChapel.

The win clinched a playoff spot for the Raiders (12-0, 9-0).

• Chelsea Filer had three doubles, 3 RBI and picked up the win in the circle as Grove City (7-2, 5-1) cruised to an 11-1 win.

• Freeport (6-3, 6-2) managed only two singles against Valley in a 3-0 loss.

Butler's boys team improved to 8-0 recently with a 98-29 win over Shaler.Winning track events for the Golden Tornado were Matt Pribis with a 17.1 in the 110 hurdles, Darius Hightower with a 12.12 in the 100 meters and 25.2 in the 200, Evan Gomez with a 5:12.4 in the 1,600 meters, Cody Hartman with a 58.6 in the 400 meters and Cody West with a 2:20.7 in the 800 meters.Winning field events for Butler were Adam Steiner with a 38-3Z\x in the shot put, Brandon Taylor with a 36-3 in the triple jump and Jason Glasgow with an 8-0 in the pole vault.Butler's 400 relay team of Hightower, Glasgow, Jon McAvoy and Jay Swiagart won in 49.35 seconds while the Tornado's 1,600 relay team of Cole Baxter, Dave Hohn, Carlos Sanchez and Cody Hartman won in 4:02.3.
