Jones 50th anniversary
Clyde Jr. and Norma Jean Jones of Butler celebrated 50 years of marriage recently with a family dinner and surprise party at the Garden Gate Restaurant in Prospect.
The couple also celebrated with a trip to Wales to research family history.
The former Norma Jean Parker married Jones April 8, 1957, in Butler.
They have two children, Frances Smith of Conneaut Lake and Clyde Jones III of Slippery Rock.
They also have two grandchildren and a great-grandson.
Jones retired from Armco in Butler after 28 years. He belongs to the North Hills and Butler Amateur Radio Club, the North Hills Genealogy Club, Bon Aire Car Club, Laurel Garden Presbyterian Thursday Morning Breakfast Group and the Prospect Sesquicentennial Committee. A member of the Boy Scouts since youth, he earned the Order of the Arrow Silver Beaver Award and was a former master for Prospect Troop 33.
Mrs. Jones retired from Kmart after 27 years. She serves as an elder at Muddycreek Presbyterian Church, is a church choir member and is a former clerk of session, attending several National Presbyterian Council Conferences. She volunteers with vacation Bible school, bakes for youth group meetings, assists with rummage sales and funeral dinners. She taught kindergarten for 30 years at Trinity Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Jones enjoys walking with her friend.
