The Douglases in 1957

Richard and Mabel Douglas of Butler celebrated 50 years of marriage recently with a family dinner at Red Lobster, followed by dessert at the home of their daughter.

The former Mabel Hall married Douglas on April 1, 1957, at Summit United Presbyterian Church in Jefferson Township.

They have three children, Richard Douglas of East Butler, Peggy Sarvey of Meridian and Ken Douglas of Accokeek, Md.

They also have five grandchildren.

Douglas retired in 1994 from the Butler Veterans Affairs Medical Center, where he worked as chief electrician. He is a member of the Writers Guild of Butler.Mrs. Douglas is a homemaker.The couple belongs to Summit United Presbyterian Church.
