Bean

Concordia Lutheran Ministries Haven III resident Dr. Carl Bean, formerly of Butler, celebrated his 90th birthday recently with a family dinner.

Bean was born April 3, 1917, in Cochranton. He married Ida Fondyce on April 18, 1942.

He has two children, Mary Bean Bates of Maple Shade, N.J., and John Bean of Midlothian, Va.

Bean retired in 1979 from the Butler Veterans Affairs Medical Center, where he worked as a radiologist.

He and his wife are members of Jefferson Center Presbyterian Church in Saxonburg.

Bean is certified by the American Board of Radiology and is a member of the Pittsburgh Roentgen Society, the Society of Nuclear Medicine, and the Radiological Society of North America.

He was also active in the Rotary for many years.

His interests include football, reading, writing and music.
