Mangola leads the way in Raiders' victory

Seneca Valley's Melissa Ball has the stick knocked out of her hands by Pine-Richland's Melissa Frey Thursday in the Raiders' 9-7 lacrosse victory.

Jackie Mangola singled twice, drove in a run and also scored a run as the Seneca Valley softball team remained unbeaten with a 3-1 win over section rival Pine-Richland Thursday afternoon.

Lauren Pennell picked up the win in the circle, striking out four and walking four in seven innings. She surrendered just five hits.

Nicole Lollo had an RBI triple for the Raiders (10-0, 7-0).

In other games:

• Samantha Pyle homered and Erica Fallecker singled and doubled in Karns City's 14-0, five-inning win over host Cranberry.

• Grove City's Chelsea Filer outdueled KennedyCatholic's Katie Ritchey, striking out 14 batters in seven innings to give the Eagles a 2-1 win.

Tara Walmsley singled, doubled and drove in both runs for Grove City (5-2, 3-1).

• Amanda Sheppeck singled twice, doubled and tripled to lead Knoch to an 11-3 win over Indiana. Michelle Steinmiller added three singles to the Knights' 18-hit attack.

• Martina Burk pitched a two-hit shutout, striking out eight and not walking a batter as Moniteau blanked Clarion, 7-0.

• Jessica Kriley collected three singles and Erica Gardner struck out nine batters in A-C Valley's 6-2 win over East Forest.

Lindsay Flavion recorded four goals and an assist, and Natalie Kalnas had two goals as Seneca Valley (8-0, 4-0) claimed the top spot in the section with a 9-7 victory over Pine-Richland.Melissa Ball had a goal and an assist, and Ashley Argyros and Roberta Miller each scored once.

Luke Lombardo registered 28 assists and Andrew Willison added 13 kills as Butler Bethel Park 3-0.Cody Clark added 13 passes for the Golden Tornado (3-6, 1-4).
