Seneca Valley softball remains undefeated

Moniteau's Aaron Smith won the 400-meter run in 52.9 seconds Wednesday in the Warriors' 101-49 win over Keystone and their 135-15 victory over A-C Valley.

Ashley Kuhn pitched her first game of the season Wednesday for Seneca Valley and posted an 8-1 victory over Hampton. She struck out five and allowed four hits for the Raiders (9-0, 6-0).

Megan McCormick and Nicole Lollo each doubled and singled for Seneca Valley and combined for five RBI.

In other games:

• Zoe Hughes doubled and tripled and Kirsten Brant doubled to lead Knoch's 12-hit attack as the Knights held on for a 5-4 win at Kittanning.

• Phylicia King pitched a five-inning one-hitter, Courtney Chutz collected three hits and scored three runs as Grove City scored 11 runs in the first inning and defeated Farrell, 14-0.

• Jessica Hotz and Amanda Shearer each doubled, but Slippery Rock surrendered three runs in the first inning to Kennedy Catholic and never recovered in a 4-0 defeat.

• The Section 5-AAA clash between Mars and Indiana was stopped after eight innings. The teams will resume play when Indiana visits Mars next Thursday.

The Butler boys team improved to 6-0 with recent wins of 114-13 over Hampton and 76-51 over North Allegheny.Overall winners for Butler were Matt Pribis in the 110 hurdles, Darius Hightower in the 100, Evan Gomez in the 1,600, Cody Hartman in the 400, Adam Steiner in the shot put, Jordan Allen in the discus, Brandon Taylor in the triple jump and Jason Glasgow in the pole vault.The Tornado's 400-meter relay team of Hightower, Glasgow, Jon McAvoy and Jay Swiagart, along with the 1,600- meter relay unit of Cole Baxter, Carlos Sanchez, Cody Hartan and Gomez, were also successful.

Fallon Bachman pitched a one-hit shutout with five strikeouts as Butler defeated Seneca Valley, 1-0 on Wednesday.Sadie Marak, Sara Cobern and Bachman tallied three straight singles to bring home the winning run for Butler (3-2).
