Concordia Lutheran Ministries Haven II resident H. Glenn Beecher, formerly of Leechburg, celebrated his 85th birthday recently with a party with friends and family.

Beecher was born April 2, 1922, in Westmoreland County.

He married Helen Zimmerman on Valentine's Day in 1946.

He has four children, Jennifer Foley of Moon Township; Christine Bollinger of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; Mark Beecher of Parkersburg, W.Va.; and Kevin Beecher of Leechburg. He also has six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Beecher retired in 1983 as a general contractor and machinist with Allegheny Ludlum Steel after 37 years of service.

He is a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Leechburg and Leechburg Masonic Lodge. He also is an emeritus on the Allegheny-Kiski Valley Historical Society board of directors.

His interests include carpentry and traveling. He and his wife have visited all 50 states.
