Mangola's homer helps SV drop Shaler

Jackie Mangola hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the fifth inning to give the Seneca Valley softball team some breathing room on the way to a 4-1 win over Shaler Tuesday afternoon.

Mangola also singled home a run.

Lauren Pennell picked up the win with an efficient seven innings of work, striking out four and walking two for the Raiders (7-0, 5-0).

In other games:

• Madison and Marissa Rotto each homered as Freeport blitzed Shady Side Academy 15-5.

• Butler surrendered 11 runs in the seventh inning in a 16-0 home loss to North Hills.
