NEW WILMINGTON — Students from several area schools were among competitors in the regional history day competition held at Westminster College March 27.

The theme for the event was "Triumph and Tragedy in History."Students competed with individual or group exhibits, performances, documentaries or papers in seven categories.

The following students placed in the competition.

Students at St. Joseph High School in Natrona Heighs also participated in a regional competition. Students Brianne Sullivan of Butler and Matthew Bocchi of Cabot were members of groups that took first and second place respectively.Students receiving first or second place in any category are eligible to compete in the state competition to be held May 10 and 11 at Penn State University. A national competition will be held in June at the University of Maryland.
