Geibel's homer gives Butler 1st section win since '04

What a way to end a streak.

Jenna Geibel hit a two-out, two-run, walkoff home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the Butler girls softball team its first victory in two seasons, a 5-4 win over NorthAllegheny Monday afternoon.

Butler went 0-17 last season and hadn't won a section game since the 2004 season.

The blast was Geibel's second two-run homer of the game. Her first home run came in the third inning to give the Golden Tornado (1-3) a 3-0 lead.

North Allegheny rallied to take the lead with a four-run sixth inning to set up the heroics.

StacyReges picked up the win, striking out eight in seven innings. She also walked nine batters.

In other games:

• Chelsea Martin pitched a three-hit shutout and Stephanie Fincher and Jade Thrower each collected two hits as Knoch (4-1) nipped Kittanning 2-0.

• Lauren Pennell tossed a one-hitter and Megan McCormick had two hits as Seneca Valley (5-0) remained undefeated with a 3-1 win over Fox Chapel.

• Karns City (1-2) scored three runs in the third inning and tacked on four more in the fourth to dispatch Redbank Valley 7-5 in a KSACgame.

• Valley's Bethany Nealer (11 strikeouts, one walk) outdueled Freeport's Brittany Showers (eighth strikeouts, one walk) in the Vikings' 4-3, eight-inning triumph.

• Mars' Monica Glomb scored on a wild pitch and Kaitlyn Cubarney drove in Zara Zollner on a groundout in the top of the seventh inning as Mars defeated Highlands, 2-0.

• Slippery Rock's Morgan Robinson struck out 10 batters to help the Rockets defeat Reynolds, 5-3.

• Stephanie Bonzo rapped three hits with four RBI to highlight Moniteau's 13-0, five-inning win over Cranberry.
