Union's Gary Cooper and Tiffany Corle made a little Alice R. Kozel Foundation District 9 Basketball All-Star Game history on Saturday at Penn State-DuBois.

Beside leading their respective squads to victory, the Union seniors earned MVP honors, the first time in all-star history both came from the same school.

Cooper had a game-high 26 points — including 11-of-13 from the field — and added seven rebounds, two blocks and a steal in the Blue team's 125-121 victory over the White squad.

The 26 points marks the second highest point total in all-star game's history. He is the third KSAC player to earn MVP honors along with Moniteau's Craig McCaslin (2003) and Clarion's Charles Baschnagel (2001).

A-C Valley's Shawn Courson, as a member of the White team, scored 10 points and added seven rebounds and two steals.

Corle, in the White team's 87-62 win over Blue, had 20 points on nine-of-13 shooting, seven rebounds, five assists and a game-tying record six steals.Corle, who also placed second in the 3-point shooting contest's playoff round, is the second consecutive Union player to win the award as Bethany Koch picked up the honor last year.Also in the girls' game, Union's Janele Divins, playing for the Blue squad, had 11 points and two assists and was fourth in the 3-point contest.Karns City's Haley Callihan had two points, three rebounds, one block, one steal and one assist for the White squad.

Seneca Valley defeated Butler 2-0 in the championship final of the North Hills Invitational Volleyball Tournament Saturday.The Raiders' junior varsity team also defeated Butler 2-0 in the championship final of the junior varsity tournament.
