SRU basketball player charged with burglaries, thefts

SLIPPERY ROCK — A standout player on this year's Slippery Rock University basketball team was arrested Wednesday on burglary and theft charges.

Glenn Reepmeyer allegedly admitted to breaking into homes and cars around the campus and stealing iPods, a pair of Xbox video game consoles and two laptop computer, state police said.

Reepmeyer, 22, of Ballwin, Mo., faces a preliminary hearing Tuesday before District Judge Clifford Woessner on three counts each of burglary, theft and receiving stolen property as well as theft from a motor vehicle.

A senior at SRU, he was placed Wednesday in the Butler County Prison and released Thursday after posting $1,000 bail. The Butler Eagle could not reach Reepmeyer for comment.

Reepmeyer earlier this month was named second team All-PSAC West; it was the second time in his career that he received the honor.

Police said the break-ins linked to the defendant date back to around Thanksgiving, with the most recent burglary earlier this week.

Investigators on Wednesday got a search warrant for Reepmeyer's apartment on Slippery Rock Road. He was there when officers served the warrant.

Reepmeyer "admitted to stealing numerous items in the last few months from residences and vehicles in the Slippery Rock area,"documents said.
