8:40 a.m. Tuesday — Alexander Cash Jr., 26, of Butler was charged with simple assault after allegedly punching his girlfriend April Shadd, 21, of Butler in the temple at her residence at 102 Fourth Ave., Apt. 4, during a domestic dispute. He then allegedly tried to strangle Shadd. Police report Shadd had a red mark on her temple consistent with that made by a punch to the head.After Cash left the scene, police at 3:22 p.m. found him in a car driven by Autumn Rae Ruth, 25, of Butler on West Wayne Street. Police said Ruth was pulled over by a patrolman who believed she was driving with a suspended license. Cash was jailed in Butler County Prison but later posted $5,000 bond. Ruth was cited for driving with a suspended license.
2:02 a.m. Saturday — Anthony Serafine, 20, of Butler was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence following a traffic stop on Route 8 in Center Township.12:45 a.m. Friday — A car driven by Frederic Arnold III, 61, of Pittsburgh and a station wagon driven by Justin Love of Connoquenessing collided on Saxonburg Boulevard in Clinton Township. Two of Love's passengers, Anmaria Merten, 3, and Tyler Merten, 2, both of Saxonburg, received minor injuries. Arnold, Love and Love's four other passengers were not injured. All adults were wearing seat belts and all children were sitting in child seats. Arnold was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. The Saxonburg Volunteer Fire Co. assisted at the scene.9:15 a.m. Thursday — An unknown vehicle and a car driven by Sarah Heuer of Saxonburg collided on Main Street in Saxonburg. The minor impact caused Heuer's car to sideswipe a parked car.9:08 p.m. Feb. 27 — Timothy Smith, 43, of New Wilmington was charged with two counts of driving under the influence and other summary traffic violations following a traffic stop on Interstate 79 in Jackson Township.
3:05 p.m. Thursday — A car driven by Kris Knapczyk, 40, of Monan, Ind., and an SUV driven by Delson Johns, 72, of Worthington collided on Route 28 in Mahoning Township. The impact sent Johns' vehicle into the side of a tractor-trailer driven by John Volk, 52, of New Kensington. As the front of the SUV was pushed under the trailer, Volk slowed down and stopped before the SUV was smashed further. The car crossed the highway and hit a hillside. Johns received minor injuries. Knapczyk and Volk were not injured. All three men were wearing seat belts. Knapczyk told police he was reading a road map when he crossed the center line leading to the accident. He faces a careless driving charge. The Distant Volunteer Fire Department and Clarion Hospital Ambulance assisted at the scene.
