Phyllis Cassese
Phyllis Cassese, 84, of Tidioute R.R. 2, Warren County, died early Monday at her home.
Born in East Brady, July 7, 1922, she was a daughter of Bert and Alice Bolam Slaugenhaupt.
She was a graduate of East Brady High and Clarion State Teachers College, and she also attended Penn State University and the University of Akron.
During World War II, she served in the Civil Service for three years in Hawaii, where she repaired bomb sites.
As an elementary school teacher, she taught in Blair County, Pa.; Silver Springs, Md.; Cleveland, and Berea, Ohio.
She was a member of the Tidioute Senior Citizens and the Tidioute Lions Club.
Surviving are her husband, Michael Cassese, whom she married July 3, 1954, in East Brady; a son, Clinton Cassese of Solon, Ohio; two daughters, Mrs. Greg (Susan) Arnold of Medina, Ohio, and Mrs. Harlan (Kaye) Spector of Shaker Heights, Ohio; a niece, Jeannie Brown of West Springfield, Mass.; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Nellie Findlay and Ernestine Byers.
<B>CASSESE</B> — Friends of Phyllis Cassese, who died Monday, Feb. 19, 2007, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday at the <B>James M. Higgins Funeral Home</B>, 3 Elm St., Tidioute, where the funeral service will follow at 4 p.m. The Rev. Ralph Culp, pastor of the Grand Valley United Methodist Church, will officiate.
