Charles H. Houpt
Charles Haberlein Houpt, 76 of Slippery Rock, formerly of Middlesex Township, died Wednesday at the Butler Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
Born Oct. 3, 1930, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of Charles E. and Dorothy Haberlein Houpt.
Mr. Houpt had attended Duquesne University and Slippery Rock University prior to founding Houpt Construction, a residential and small commercial construction company, which he owned and operated for more than 50 years.
He was a member of the Bakerstown Presbyterian Church and had been a troop leader for Boy Scout Troop 653 for 12 years.
During the Korean War, he was a corporal in the Army.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Marjorie M. Moulton Houpt, whom he married Sept. 18, 1953, in Elfinwild, Shaler Township; two sons, Loren D. and Darryl S. (Denise) Houpt, both of Slippery Rock, and two grandchildren.
Also surviving are a brother, Donald L. Houpt of Hampton Township, and a sister, Linda H. Maxwell of Grove City.
