11:22 a.m. Friday — Kasey Rose Dischman, 20, of Lyndora was charged with retail theft and disorderly conduct after allegedly stealing more than $84 in items, including hair clippers and a hair iron, from the Hansen Avenue Kmart. After a store employee chased down Dischman outside of the store, she allegedly repeatedly pushed him.2:42 p.m. Tuesday — A car driven by Shawn McDonald, 19, and a car driven by Melanie Rogers, 49, of Butler collided at the intersection of East Brady and North Cedar streets. No one was injured. McDonald was charged with fleeing the scene, going the wrong direction on a one-way street and driving without insurance.
Friday — After several residents reported receiving fraudulent checks supposedly from the Canadian lottery, police issued a warning about scams. Upon being told they won the lottery, the residents sent money for "tax purposes" via a wire service. Police say the scam targets the elderly and remind residents to call the department at 724-285-9600 if they receive such a lottery check.
3 a.m. Friday — Amir Camron Panahiazar, 20, of Monroeville was arrested for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia after police responded to a criminal mischief call at the South Rock Apartments in Slippery Rock Township. Along with various drug paraphernalia, police found eight marijuana plants inside Panahiazar's apartment.During the same incident, William J. Liston, 20, of Grindstone, Pa., was cited for criminal mischief and underage drinking after allegedly kicking a window out at the South Rock Apartments.Thursday — Norman L. Kemp III, 27, of Sarver and Nicholas Skufca, 23, of Arnold were charged with criminal attempt theft, criminal conspiracy and possession of instruments of crime after allegedly trying to steal scrap brass at Penn United Technology in Jefferson Township at 2:30 a.m. Feb. 21.
4:25 a.m. Friday — Someone driving a 1997 Saturn hit a guardrail off Route 68 in Toby Township then continued traveling. Police are investigating.
