Richard Sater has returned to the United States after being deployed to an overseas forward-operating location in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.The major is a chief of public affairs assigned to the Pacific Air Forces, Hickam Air Force Base, Honolulu, Hawaii.He is the son of Richard N. and Dolores J. Sater of Butler.In 1989, he received a master's degree from Purdue University, West Lafayette, Ind., and earned a doctorate in 2001 from Ohio University, Athens.——

Omer Shankle III, son of Omer and Billie Shankle of Fenelton, entered the delayed entry program for the Air Force on Oct. 12.Shankle, a 2006 graduate of Butler High School, shipped to Air Force basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas, on Feb. 13.——Air Force Airman 1st Class

Justin Davis has graduated from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.He is the son of Richard Davis of Cranberry Township and Suzanne Davis of Cheswick.Davis is a 2004 graduate of Deer Lakes High School, Russelton.
