Karl 'Pete' Rottman

Karl "Pete" Rottman, 90, of Redwood Road, Karns City, died at 8:50 p.m. Monday at his home after a long illness.

Born Sept. 15, 1916, at Pine Run, near Kaylor, Armstrong County, he was a son of Thomas Rottman and Sophia Freiters Rottman Williams.

He attended St. Paul's United Church of Christ.

Mr. Rottman had attended the Criswell and Petrolia elementary schools and was a lifelong farmer and oil producer. He also had been a coal miner near Karns City and had worked in the filter house at Witco Corp. in Petrolia for 26 years.

He enjoyed attending auctions and mule deer hunting in Colorado.

Surviving are his wife, Shirley Jane Kaylor Rottman, whom he married Aug. 4, 1973; two daughters, Carol Ann Clark and her husband, Brian, of Mercer and Nancy Lee Brice of Karns City; three sons, Karl D. Rottman, Scott H. Rottman and his wife, Amy, and Daniel D. Rottman, all of Karns City; 14 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

He also is survived by two sisters, Julia McCall and her husband, Robert, of Parker and Frances Reichart and her husband, Merle, of Franklin; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Doris I. Robinson Rottman, who died Dec. 17, 1947; two brothers, Thomas and Ferdinand Rottman; and a sister, Ann Williams.

<B>ROTTMAN </B>— Friends of Karl "Pete" Rottman, who died Monday, Jan. 22, 2007, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at <B>Richard d Hillis funeral home</B>, 102 Argyle St., Petrolia.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Matthew Van Gorten, pastor of Martinsburg Community Church in Bruin, officiating.Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, Chicora R.D. 1.
