Mario Carmen Pirrera, 94, of Butler, formerly of New York City and Ellwood City, died at 5:30 a.m. on Friday at Butler Memorial Hospital

Born in Enna, Sicily, on Dec. 28, 1912, he was the son of James and Josephine Buona Pirrera.

He worked as a machinist and supervisor in sewing factories in Brooklyn, N.Y., from 1935 to the early 1970s. Then he worked at Romar in Ellport and at Polishing Systems in New Castle.

He was a Catholic and a devout family man who enjoyed gardening.

Surviving are his wife, Eva Smith Pirrera, whom he married on Nov. 10, 1970; a daughter, Debra Reynolds Hilliar of Butler; a stepdaughter, Vita Long of Florida; a brother, James Pirrera of Ellwood City; two sisters, Ann Buccelli of Ellwood City and Lucy Ray Koah of Venice, Fla.; three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his former wives, Margaret DeMauro Pirrera and Michelina Aleo Pirrera, who died in 1970; two sons; three sisters, and two brothers.

<B>PIRRERA</B> — Friends of Mario Carmen Pirrera, who died Friday, Jan. 12, 2007, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the <B>Thompson Miller Funeral Home</B>, Butler.A 10 a.m. service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday the funeral home with the Rev. Dennis L. Krajacic, officiating.Burial will be at Locust Grove Cemetery.Arrangements are by <B>Samuel Teolis Funeral Home</B>.Information also is available at www.thompson-miller.com.
