Voris 'Jumbo' Elsey
Voris K. "Jumbo" Elsey, 93, of Butler died Dec. 18 at his home.
Born March 11, 1913, in Preston County, W.Va., he was the son of Troy and Phoebe Norris Elsey.
He was a member of the Tanglewood Senior Center; the National Association of Letter Carriers; the Butler County YMCA, where he was an active swimmer, and was a founding member of the Oneida Valley Volunteer Fire Department.
Mr. Elsey was a Navy veteran, having served during World War II and the Korean War.
He retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier for Butler County.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Norman (Erma) Summerville of Butler; three sons, Earl Seiler of Wilkins Township, Allegheny County, Ted Elsey of Hawaii and Troy Elsey of California; nine grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Four nieces and a nephew also survive.
His wife, Margaret Ellen Bash Seiler Elsey, whom he married May 15, 1948, died June 22, 2003. Two sisters and three brothers also preceded him in death.
