Students in grades 2, 3 and 4 at McQuistion Elementary in the Butler School District were asked by the Butler Eagle to write short essays. Some students wrote about what love means and others wrote about what Valentine's Day means. Here are some of their responses:

Valentine's means alot to me. Valentine's means alot to me because I see everyone in my family. When I visit people in my family, I get lots of candy and love. On Valentine's Day, my class and I have a party at school. On Valentine's Day, everyone gets lots of love. Valentine's is a special holiday to everyone. On Valentine's I get lots of cards. Valentine's Day is special because I see people, have parties, and it is a special holiday.<B>Desiree Smith</B>Valentine's Day is fun with you're family. Without family at Valentine's Day, it would be boring. We have a party at school for Valentine's Day. We get to play games there. You make Valentine's cards to give to people you like. Valentine's Day is my favorite because Ilike to spend time with my family. It is really fun. We go out to eat at Burger Hut and I always eat steak saled. It's good. First, Valentine's day is a day to share your stuff and not to say "No, I'm not sharing." Second, it means to put up decorations. Finally, Valentine's Day is a day to get candy. It can be talking about your feelings with mom, playing with your brother, or playing a game with dad. I like to play games that we all play. If mom and dad don't want to play, I'll play hide and seek, dance to music, or race hot wheels with my brother. My mom will take me shopping once in a while. Every time we buy tons of stuff and kiss. My dad and I get the giggle talking. Maybe you've had that kind of love before. Maybe not. Either way, to me, that's what love is.<B>Jaclyn Creaturo</B>To me love is February.
