Richard "Dick" Ford Oesterling Jr., 85, of Prospect died Sunday morning at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Butler.

Born Dec. 16, 1921, in Butler, he was the son of Richard F. and Rosella Osche Oesterling.

He retired after 30 years at the former Penn Industrial Supply.

He was a member of the Homeacre Chapel in Butler.

Oesterling was a Navy World War II veteran. He belonged to the Thomas F. Critchlow-Billy E. Hays American Legion Post 417 of Prospect.

He was a former member of the Butler County Rifle Association.

He is survived by his wife, Norma Jean Dietz Oesterling, whom he married Aug. 22, 1952; three sons, Richard "Rick" F. Oesterling III of Waterloo, Iowa, Edward Oesterling of Prospect, and Gordon Oesterling of Butler; one daughter, Mrs. Wallace (Chris) Kendle of Miami, Fla.; three sisters, Pauline Grossman of Columbus, Ohio, and Georgia Oesterling and Judith Fry, both of Butler; 15 grandchildren; one great-grandson; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.

<B>Oesterling</B> — Friends of Richard "Dick" Ford Oesterling Jr., who died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2007, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at <B>Edward L. Raisley Funeral Home</B>, with the funeral service to follow at 8 p.m. His son, the Rev. Richard "Rick" F.
