Students in grades two, three and four at McQuistion Elementary School in the Butler School District were asked by the Butler Eagle to write short essays. Some students wrote about what love means and others wrote about what Valentine's Day means. Here are some of the responses:

Getting to be with my grandma. It is people helping me when I need it. Love is when my brother and sister helped me when I had a broken leg.<B>Chelsea Grey</B>Love means to me is that people really, really like you. They like to spend a lot of time with you. Making and getting things for you. Love means that people care about you. They want to be with you all the time. People think you are special. They kiss and hug you.<B>Jessica Graham</B>Love means to me my family giving me shelter and food. Also love is special to me for everbody just caring for each other. It is good to help is someone is stumped especially on Valentine's Day. You should think about how much you care about each other.<B>Kylie Sheppeck</B>I love my dog Chloe. I love when my mom makes breakfast. I love when my family celebrates our birthdays.<B>Joey Alkire</B>I think that love leads you nowhere. Love is just as your mom or dad love each other. Or a friend might have a boyfriend and love him. It is a time to love around Christmastime. In february is a good day to love on Valentine's day. Love is all over the world. My holl family has love they just don't show it.<B>Salena Carrero</B>What love means to me is that anytime should be a special moment. A very important thing to me about love is that you don't need gifts to get that special someone's attion. You don't need to get candy, or get chocolat, but it can help. All you really need is some time to get out. If someone is far away, and you love them, you can try sending them a postcard to tell them you love them. Or you could go see them or have them come and see you. THen you could go out somewhere together. When you love someone like a relative you can go see them often too. If they know you love them and they know you miss them they won't mind if you start see them other. So when you really love somebody you don't have to get them gifts. All you have to do is make a time to see them, or go out with them. Or you could just see them often.<B>Emily Srock</B>Love is special to me. Why love means a lot to me is that my mom and dad love me. If my mom and dad had no love, Iwould feel sad. Another one is that my mom and dad love each other. If my mom and dad didn't have love for each other, they would be apart and that wouldn't be a very good thing. I think why love is specal to me is all my family members love me. If they didn't' have love in there heart, they would not love me. Love means a lot to me if love didn't exist, my parents wouldn't love me, they wouldn't love each other, andy my brother wouldn't love me.<B>Mikayla Wilkerson</B>Love is special to me. What love means to me ...Love is something you can't explain. One of God's greatest creations. Love is good, sweet, nice, and pretty. Love to me is not boastful, proud, rude or self-seeking. Love to me is all about the colors pink, red, or white. The roses and chocolates make you feel special inside. There are things about love that you thing are wrong, but are not.
