David R. John Sr.

John Sr.

David R. John Sr., 62, of Chicora Road died unexpectedly at 10:43 a.m. Saturday at Jameson Hospital, New Castle.

Born in Butler, April 15, 1944, he was the son of Kathryn Hillwig John and the late Joseph B. John.

Mr. John was a member of the St. Paul Roman Catholic Church.

He had worked at Pullman Standard for 20 years until the plant closed. He also worked at Sportsman's Supply for more than 20 years and currently was part of the inventory control department at Bear Metallurgical on East Butler Road.

He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Surviving are his mother of Vero Beach, Fla.; his former wife, Sandra L. Koziar of Butler; two sons, David John Jr. and his wife, Lisa, of Butler, and Joseph John of Pittsburgh; two daughters, Mrs. Thomas (Deana) Palla of Chicora and Jodie Bookhamer of Butler; and three grandchildren, Hannah John and Brent and Chad Spahn.

Two sisters, Mrs. Wally (Judy) Bandura and Mrs. David (Terri) Proffitt, both of Vero Beach, and many nieces and nephews also survive.

<B>JOHN</B> — Friends of David R. John Sr., who died Saturday, Dec. 30, 2006, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the <B>THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, </B>124 E. North St.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at the St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 N. McKean St., with the Rev. Raymond Trance officiating.Burial will follow in the St. Patrick Cemetery Chicora.The St. Paul Guild and Christian Mothers will recite the rosary at 9:40 a.m. Friday at the church.Information also is available at www.thompson-miller.com.
