Darwin Lee White
Darwin Lee White, 70, of North Drive, Rocky Point, N.C., lost his battle with cancer at home surrounded by family on Saturday.
Born July 18, 1936, in Clinton Township, he was the son of Richard Washington and Louise (Hughes) White. At an early age his family moved to a farm in Emlenton where he and his siblings worked hard to raise cattle and a few crops. They also had working oil wells on the property.
On Feb. 24, 1956, married the former Marilyn Chambers, who he was married to for 50 years.
He was an active church member for most of his adult life. He was currently a member of Bible Baptist Church, Burgaw, N.C.
He had a passion for Hudson automobiles and was a member of the Dogwood Chapter Hudson-Essex-Terraplane Club. Neighbors, friends, and family enjoyed watching him transform a relic to a finely running car. His favorite pastime was attending car meets with family and fellow enthusiasts.
He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Rodney and Donna White of Bristol, R.I.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Darlene and Kirk Wilson of Wilmington, N.C., and Brenda and John Galinac of Wellsboro; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Darrell and Mary Linn White of Pandora, Ohio, and Walter and Linda White of Emlenton; a sister and brother-in-law, Francine and Dean Wolfgong of Lamertine; six grandchildren, a great-grandchild, four aunts, and a number of nieces and nephews.
