Shirley J. Martin
Shirley J. Martin, 75, of Harrisville died at 7:25 a.m. Friday at Orchard Manor in Pine Township, Mercer County, after a short illness.
The daughter of Samuel H. Osborne and V. Belle (Morrison) Davis Osborn, she was born Jan. 22, 1931, in Wick.
A 1949 graduate of Slippery Rock High School, she worked at the former Kings Shoe Store and Collins Shoe Store, both in Grove City, before retiring in 1992 after more than 30 years.
Mrs. Martin was an active lifetime member of the Bethel Presbyterian Church in Slippery Rock, where she was on many church committees and was a former Sunday school teacher and Bible school teacher.
She was a master quilter and seamstress. She was active with family and friends and was a lifetime member of the "catering committee" of the Hackers and Smackers Golf League.
She was known by "Aunt Shirley" to many.
She is survived by her husband, William E. Martin, whom she married Dec. 4, 1954.
She is also survived by two daughters, Rebecca J. Sopher and her husband, Dennis, of Harrisville, and Barbara C. Frankenburg and her husband, Dana, of Grove City; four grandchildren, Samuel Sopher and his wife, Joanna, of Pittsburgh, Melissa Sopher, of Harrisville, Mallory Spiker and husband, Nate, and Zachary Frankenburg, all of Grove City; two brothers, Ralph "Tony" Osborne of Grove City and Raymond Osborne, of Butler; and a very dear friend, Mary Ann Hughes of Harrisville.
She was preceded in death by four sisters and four brothers.
<B>Martin </B>— Friends of Shirley J. Martin, who died Friday, Dec. 22, 2006, will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the <B>Jamison Funeral Home</B>, 117 N. Main St., Harrisville, and from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at Bethel Presbyterian Church, 877 Franklin Rd., Slippery Rock. Service will occur there at 2 p.m. The Rev. Jack D. Patterson, chaplain at Orchard Manor, and pastors Mark L. Frailey and Diane Whitman, both of Bethel Presbyterian Church, will preside.Burial will be at Prairie Cemetery in Harrisville.
