Sylvester and Lois Kapalka

Sylvester "Ches" and Lois Kapalka of Butler celebrated 50 years of marriage recently with a family dinner at The Villa in Cadogan.

The former Lois Lawson married Kapalka Jan. 18, 1957, at Thorn Creek United Methodist Church in Butler.

They have two children, Valerie Kapalka of Butler and Paul Kapalka of Cabot. They also have a granddaughter.

Kapalka is a retired steelworker. He was employed at both United States Steel and Allegheny Ludlum Steel. He is a member of American Legion Post 683 and Saxonburg VFW. He enjoys hunting.

Mrs. Kapalka is a homemaker. She belongs to the American Legion Post 683 Auxiliary and is an avid card player.

The couple belongs to Thorn Creek United Methodist Church.
