Voris K. 'Jumbo' Elsey

Voris K. "Jumbo" Elsey, 93, of Butler died Monday at his home.

Born March 11, 1913, in Preston County, W. Va., he was the son of Troy and Phoebe Norris Elsey.

He was a member of the Tanglewood Senior Center and the National Association of Letter Carriers. He also belonged to the Butler County YMCA, where he was an active swimmer.

Mr. Elsey was a founding member of the Oneida Valley Fire Department.

He was a Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War and retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier in Butler County.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Norman (Erma) Summerville of Butler; three sons, Earl Seiler and his wife, Judith, of Wilkins Township, Allegheny County, Ted Elsey of Hawaii and Troy Elsey of California; nine grandchildren, Tara and Krista Elsey, Eric Seiler, Nancy Patterson, Luther and Brian Summerville, Lisa Patten, Beth Mennor and Natalie Clauser; and seven great-grandchildren, Katherine Patterson, Heidi, Kelsie and Carley Patten, Abby and Evan Mennor and Parker Clauser.

His wife, Margaret Ellen Bash Seiler Elsey, whom he married May 15, 1948, died June 22, 2003. Two sisters and three brothers also preceded him in death.

<B>ELSEY</B> — A memorial service for Voris K. "Jumbo" Elsey, who died Monday, Dec. 18, 2006, will be held later.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the YWCA Personal Care Residence, 120 W. Cunningham St., Butler, PA 16001; or to the Butler Area Public Library, 218 N.
