Zachary Mandigo, has completed basic and advanced training as a combat engineer and was deployed to Germany on Jan. 7.He was a student at Karns City High School and then received certifications in phlebotomy and as an EKG technician.He is the son of Deborah and Ron Sliker of East Brady.——Army Pfc.
Andrew Hughes has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga.He is the son of Patricia Swanson of Evans City.Hughes is a 2006 graduate of Seneca Valley High School.——Army National Guard Pvt.
Marc Blodgett recently graduated from basic training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.He is the son of Jacqueline Solada of Butler, and grandson of Ruth Snow of Karns City.
The Governor's Veterans Outreach & Assistance Center offers free service to veterans, disabled veterans and widows of war era veterans who are in need and will assist in applying for VA benefits.The center also can assist with the following programs:• Veterans and family members of deceased veterans can apply to have service medals replaced free of charge. This is a one-time replacement.• World War II veterans who received the Combat Infantry Badge or the Combat Medics Badge and have not received the bronze star may request that the bronze star be issued.• WWII veterans who have lost the Honorable Lapel Pin may apply for a replacement.For assistance on any of the above, contact the center at 800-442-6815 or 724-837-7988.
