Patrons of the arts
The generosity of Craig and Margaret Succop, center, in underwriting the Beaux Arts Benefit on Jan. 16, 1970, was acknowledged by the boards of Butler Little Theatre, the Butler Symphony Orchestra, the Musical Theatre Guild, the Butler County Music and Arts Festival and the Butler Performing Arts Society. A portion of the proceeds was used to found the Butler County Arts Council. After their deaths, the Succop's son, Tom, and his wife, Jo Ann, donated his parents' 80-acre estate in Penn Township in 2001 to the Butler County Community College Education Foundation. Fifty of those acres are owned and operated by the foundation as the Succop Conservancy, which is used to promote environmental education. A gift from members of the Succop family led to the creation of BC3's Succop Theater, which opened Aug. 10, 2002.
