Courson helps Falcons soar above Warriors

Slippery Rock High's Jared Vinroe control's Hickory's Wes Gentzler during their 160-pound match Wednesday. Vinroe pinned Gentzler, but Hickor topped the Rockets 63-18.

Shawn Courson scored 27 points as the A-CValley boys basketball team overcame turnovers and a late Moniteau charge for a 55-52 Keystone Shortway Athletic Conference-West win Wednesday night.

The Falcons (5-4, 4-2) committed 36 turnovers in the game, but held a huge lead at the half.

In the second half, Moniteau (4-7, 3-3) stormed back.

Tyler Armagost scored 13 of his team-leading 17 points in the second half as the Warriors chipped away at a 15-point deficit, but the ultimately fell short.

The Falcons' Ryan Jackson scored 13 points and was 4-of-6 at the foul line in the fourth period.

Karns City 50, Clarion 48 — Mike Senopole's layup in the closing seconds gave the Gremlins the KSACwin.With the game knotted at 48, Cameron Turner's block of a Clarion shot with 10 seconds remaining was grabbed by Matt McConnell. After a pass from McConnell, Senopole dribbled three-quarters of the court to score.Senopole had 10 of his 11 points in the fourth quarter. Turner added 10 points and 12 rebounds and Kevin Beck 10 points and eight rebounds.
