6:26 p.m. Tuesday — Ronald Schaeffer, 31, was arrested for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend, Deborah Ashcraft, 40, during a domestic dispute at their Brown Avenue home. Schaeffer is charged with simple assault.Butler Twp Police11:36 p.m. Sunday — Aaron Burd, 29, of Butler Township was arrested for driving under the influence and hit and run after he crashed his vehicle on Route 8 near the Greater Butler Mart.Police said Burd's vehicle hit an embankment and rolled over before landing on its wheels. It then struck a concrete median, slid about 40 feet and then slid sideways another 120 feet.The vehicle hit another embankment head-on, rolled over at least one time and then traveled another 80 feet. Police said Burd ran off after the crash.
Saturday — A granite memorial stone, about 12 inches by 16 inches, was stolen from along Route 38, about 2 miles south of Glenwood Way in Center Township.The stone, gray with a black engraving that reads "Steve with Love Always Wendy," was stolen between 8 p.m. Friday and 1:30 p.m. Saturday. The stone, owned by Wendy Kerr of West Sunbury, also has an engraving of a motorcycle.
2:30 p.m. Tuesday — Atruck driven by Robert Lemke, 45, of Mercer struck and sheared off a utility pole along Fleming Road in Pine Township, Mercer County. Ashley Lemke, 19, of Mercer, apassenger in the truck who was wearing a seat belt, suffered an arm injury.Tuesday — Charles Carlson Jr., 54, of Grove City said someone stole three credit cards and a tape recorder from his Peterbilt truck parked at his Lake Drive home in Pine Township, Mercer County. The theft occurred between 3 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Tuesday.11:20 p.m. Friday — An unidentified, white 2006 Toyota Tundra pickup truck struck the rear of a sport utility vehicle and did not stop following the crash on Interstate 80 in Wolf Creek Township, Mercer County.The crash, however, damaged the pickup, which police found along the highway about 7 miles away. Police said the unknown driver fled the scene. Dale Wilker, 56, of White Plains, N.Y., was driving the SUV.Friday — A would-be thief left empty-handed after trying to break into a vehicle filled with Christmas gifts at Prime Outlets in Springfield Township. The unknown suspect slashed a tire on the vehicle, owned by Ashley Richards of Grove City, before fleeing. The attempted theft occurred between 10 p.m. Thursday and 7:30 a.m. Friday.
