Monday — Police reported that charges have been filed in connection with two break-ins this month at city businesses.Travis Ryan Hilliard, 21, of Prospect is linked to both burglaries. Police said he used a large rock Dec. 16 to smash out a front window at the Marathon gas station on South Main Street.Once inside, Hilliard allegedly stole several cartons of cigarettes and $1,800. He is charged with burglary, theft and criminal mischief in the break-inPolice also charged Hilliard and Clifford Hicks, no age given, of Cabot, in the Dec. 11 break-in at the Hoffman Auto Parts store on West Jefferson Street.Hicks is accused of entering the building through a window and trying to use tools inside the business to open a safe; the attempt to crack the safe failed.Hicks is charged in the case with burglary, theft, conspiracy and criminal mischief; Hilliard is charged with conspiracy and receiving stolen property.Police noted that both suspects, already in the Butler County Prison on unrelated charges filed by other police departments, will be arraigned in the city cases later.2:33 p.m. Saturday — Todd Harrison, 23, of Butler was arrested for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend, Richelle Ruediger, 20, of Butler at his South Main Street apartment. Harrison is charged with simple assault and harassment.12:45 a.m. Saturday — Richard McManus, 38, of Butler was arrested for driving under the influence on Walker Avenue. He was also cited for driving with a suspended license and unauthorized use of a vehicle.
4:19 a.m. Sunday — Nicholas Colligan, 23, of Chicora was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence at Center Drive and Conway Road in Oakland Township.2:45 a.m. Sunday — Brian Neff, 32, of Chicora was arrested for suspicion of DUI at Center Drive and Conway Road in Oakland Township.1:26 a.m. Sunday — Thomas Paserba, 31, of Maracaibo, Venezuela, was arrested for suspicion of DUI on Route 8 at the Clearview Mall in Center Township.Sunday — Two Portersville residents are accused of falsely claiming a car they co-own was stolen overnight from a Perry Highway home in Muddy Creek Township. Jacqueline Cavaluchy, 26, and Don M. Taylor, 37, are charged with false reports to law enforcement authorities and conspiracy.5:58 p.m. Saturday — Apickup truck driven by Thomas Smeltzer, 56, of Kittanning struck the rear of a car stopped at a red light on Route 8 about one mile south of Mercer Road in Center Township.Trista Chestnut, 15, of Ford City, a passenger in the pickup, suffered minor injuries; she was not wearing a seat belt. Smeltzer was cited for following too closely to another vehicle and a seat belt violation. Andrew Musko, 18, of Butler was driving the car.10:05 a.m. Saturday — A car driven by James Schaeffer, 57, of Butler and a van driven by Justin Yetter, 27, of Millvale, Allegheny County, collided at North Road and Nazarene Lane in Franklin Township. The car, following the collision, slammed head-on into a tree. Schaeffer was cited for illegally passing another vehicle.7:12 p.m. Friday — An unknown man took off running after he crashed a stolen 1991 Honda Accord into the rear of a sport utility vehicle on Route 422 near the Trader Horn store in Franklin TownshipThe suspect, described as white and about 5 feet, 10 inches tall, was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and was last seen running north across Route 422. Police said the car was stolen from Harmony. Walter Jack, 69, of Butler was driving the SUV.7:10 p.m. Friday — Patrick Mohn, 40, of Karns City was arrested for DUI after his pickup truck struck a tree along FreeportRoad in Jefferson Township.Dec. 18 — Bonnie Napora of Penn Township reported that someone illegally used her bank check card number to make more than $3,000 in purchases on the Internet.Dec. 18 — David Carl Jones of Evans City reported that someone between Dec. 15 and 18 stole a wallet from his unlocked vehicle parked at St. John's Church in Evans City.10:20 a.m. Dec. 14 — A 17-year-old Harmony boy told police he was assaulted by two known individuals outside the B&E Mini Mart on Route 68 in Connoquenessing Township. The boy, who police did not identify, suffered a broken nose in the assault.
7:32 p.m. Sunday — Kenny Crispen, 40, of Rimersburg was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after his pickup truck crashed into another pickup parked on Huey Road in Toby Township, Clarion County.
