Hobaugh 60th anniversary

Paul and Esther Hobaugh

Paul and Esther Hobaugh of Butler celebrated 60 years of marriage with a family dinner.

The former Esther Shira married Hobaugh Oct. 5, 1946, at the bride's home in Butler.

They have a daughter, Ruth Crotzer of Butler. Paula Hobaugh Diggs, another daughter, is deceased.

They also have four grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Hobaugh serves as vice president of the Parking Authority. He was also a former secretary and chairman in the organization. He is also the vice president and former president of the Butler County Safety Council.

He is a former member of the Election Board, Butler County Symphony Board and the Planning and Zoning Commission Board. He is a member and former president of the Butler Kiwanis Club, a former president and state director of the Junior Chamber of Commerce and a former director of the City Civil Defense.

Hobaugh is a founding board member of the 911 Communications Center and has served as a city councilman and chairman of the selective service board. He has received the True Citizen Award in Local Government and the Service Appreciation Award from the Butler County Safety Council.

He assisted in founding the Little League baseball program in Butler. Aveteran, he served as first sergeant of the 1383rd Military Police Company.

Mrs. Hobaugh is a former employee of Pullman Standard, the Highway Department, Butler Memorial Hospital and Butler School District, where she worked as a secretary. She is a member of the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees; General Federation of Women's Clubs, where she serves as a pianist; and several local bridge clubs. She is a former member of the Tuesday Musical Club.

The couple belongs to Valencia United Methodist Church, where they participate in the Chancel Choir. Hobaugh serves as treasurer at the church and Mrs. Hobaugh serves as the church pianist.
