Dean Sr.

Alfred A. Dean Sr., 80, of Butler died at 11:42 p.m. Sunday at the Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born March 27, 1926, in Butler, he was the son of Alfred and Mary Elizabeth Christie Dean.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church, where he was a trustee for 23 years. He also was an usher and served on the building committee.

Mr. Dean loved to fish and hunt and especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

He had worked for Penn-Drake refinery for 27 years before starting A&E Oil Co. in East Butler in 1976.

He was a World War II Navy veteran.

Surviving are his wife, Ella M. Fehl Dean, whom he married June 13, 1947; two daughters, Mrs. Ronald (Connie) Cowher of West Sunbury and Mrs. Bill (Mary Ellen) Broman Jr. of Butler; a son, Alfred Dean Jr. and his wife, Anita, of Tucson, Ariz.; six grandchildren, William E. and Amy Broman of Butler, Chad and Amy Broman of Karns City, Stacy and Sean Curran of Butler, Julie and Josh Olsen of California, and Alfred Isaac Dean and Erin Dean, both of Tucson; and nine great-grandchildren.

Four sisters, Mary Greiner, Dorothy Paxton, and Elaine Ross, all of Florida and Aline Stoughton of Ohio also survive.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Scott A. Wright, and a sister.

<B>DEAN </B>— Friends of Alfred A. Dean Sr., who died Sunday, Nov. 12, 2006, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the <B>Young Funeral Home</B>, 127 W. Jefferson St. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. David Maitland officiating. Burial will be at the Concord Cemetery, Concord Township.Contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, 221 W.
