James A. Byrne
James A. Byrne, 90, of Butler died at 8:30 a.m. Thursday at his home.
Born Oct. 14, 1916, in Wheeling, W.Va., he was the son of Patrick Frances and Mary Wagner Byrne.
He was a World War II Army veteran. He was a Catholic.
He was a union steward for the United Steelworkers of America Local 1779, and he retired from Pittsburgh Forgings.
Surviving are his daughters, Mrs. Ziggy (Judy) Paclawski of Allison Park, Mary Frankenberry of Mount Lebanon and Mrs. Alan (Debbie) Shively of Butler; five sons, James A. Byrne Jr. and his wife, Bev, of Avalon, Paul "Rege" Byrne of North Hills, Patrick Byrne and his wife, Sue, of Emsworth, Tom Byrne and his wife, Sue, of Kittanning and David Byrne of Lawrence, Kan.; 15 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helene Marie Schwoegl Byrne, who died Nov. 8, 2004; three sisters; and three brothers.
