BUTLER TWP — Lifesteps will host free Child Check developmental screenings for children age 5 and younger from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at Harmony United Presbyterian Church, Route 8, Harrisville, and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at Dutilh United Methodist Church, Dutilh Road, Cranberry Township.Each screening takes about 30 minutes and results will be discussed with parents immediately.Appointments are recommended. CENTER TWP — Family Life Ministries, 932 Mercer Road, will collect donations of food and money from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday to benefit the Center Township Food Pantry.Donations are also accepted at Clearview PRO Hardware, Route 8.The food pantry is open from 9 to 10:30 a.m. the third Saturday of each month.
Gifts collected for seniors in needZELIENOPLE — A home care services business will collect and distribute donated gifts to about 135 needy seniors in Beaver and Butler counties, most of whom live in the Zelienople and Mars area.Home Instead Senior Care set up Christmas trees in stores. Ornaments on the trees have the names and wish lists of area seniors. The goal is to collect about 200 gifts, said Tim Lyon, a Home Instead spokesman.Trees will be displayed through Dec. 12 at Big Lots in Rochester, Beaver County, and at the Clearview Mall.Unwrapped gifts should be returned to the store where the ornament was chosen. Agift-wrapping party, will be held at 10 a.m. Dec. 12 at the Mars Senior Center in Penn Mar Plaza in Mars.For information, call Lyon at 724-452-6691.
BUTLER TWP — The Butler Lions Club will host its annual Christmas tree sale beginning at noon Saturday at the Butler High School Stadium.The sale will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. weekdays, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays until all trees are sold.
MARS — A Farmer's Holiday Market will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in the meeting room at the Mars Public Library, 107 Grand Ave.The event will feature baked goods, crafts, plants and gifts.
EMLENTON — Christmas in Emlenton will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Crawford Center, Hill Street, Emlenton.The event will include a vendor fair and food.
