SHOT CLOCK FACTS
• Eight states with the shot clock in high school basketball: California, New York, Massachusetts, SouthDakota, Rhode Island, Washington, Maryland and Vermont.
• The NBA adopted the 24-second shot clock in the 1954-55 season.
• Women's college basketball used the shot clock on an experimental basis in 1960 and then began using it in the 1971-72 season.
• Men's college basketball adopted the shot clock in 1985-86.
• New Jersey is using it on an experimental basis.
