Tuesday — A thief apparently armed with a drill overnight busted a lock on a Coke machine at Friedman's on West Brady Street and took the bill changer, coin bucket and most of the soda. The stolen property and damage to the machine was estimated at $500.Tuesday — Someone broke in half a business sign at the dental office of Dr. Lawrence Kenney on North McKean Street. The vandalism occurred between 2 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. Tuesday. Damage was estimated at $350.11:30 p.m. Monday — A tractor-trailer driven by Anthony Gordon, 51, of Meadville, Crawford County, struck a fire hydrant at Cliff and Jefferson streets. The hydrant, owned by the Pennsylvania-American Water Co., was destroyed.
7:05 a.m. Tuesday — A car driven by Johannes Hoogerbrugge, 29, of Beaver Falls, Beaver County struck a utility pole along Route 488 in Muddy Creek Township. Hoogerbrugge told police the crash occurred when he swerved his car to avoid a deer on the road.Monday — Drug charges are pending against two suspects caught following separate traffic stops in the county.In the first stop about 5:25 p.m., a 45-year-old Mercer man allegedly speeding on Route 422 in Muddy Creek Township was found with a small plastic bag of suspected marijuana and a smoking pipe.About 8:45 p.m., a 42-year-old Pittsburgh man was stopped for driving with a defective headlight at Routes 228 and 19 in Cranberry Township. He was found with an unmarked bottle of a suspected prescription painkiller.2:15 a.m. Saturday — Darren Knox, 23, of Karns City was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Alameda Road in Butler Township.Nov. 20 — A Compaq Presario laptop computer was stolen between 12:30 and 1 p.m. from a Taggart Road church camp in Slippery Rock. Kevin Starcher of Slippery Rock owns the computer.
12:37 a.m. Nov. 12 — Frank Leta Jr., no age given, of Harrisville was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Interstate 80 in Wolf Creek Township, Mercer County. He also faces charges of possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.12:15 a.m. Nov. 1 — Samantha Fox, no age given, of Grove City was arrested for suspicion of DUI after her mini-van crashed on Route 258 near Black Run Road in Liberty Township, Mercer County.
