Philip C. 'Bud' Wilson

Philip C. "Bud" Wilson, 81, of Madison Township, Clarion County, died at his home Thursday.

Born Dec. 13, 1924, in East Brady, Mr. Wilson was the son of Elmer F. and Martha R. Shoemaker Wilson.

He attended East Brady High School and enjoyed gardening, bird watching, woodworking, hunting, hiking and music.

He also donated avidly to numerous religious charities.

Mr. Wilson was a brakeman for the Pennsylvania Railroad before World War II. He also worked at the Michigan Limestone Mine in Bradys Bend for six years, as well as at the Rider Saw Mill in Sandy Hallow and Rex-Hide Inc. in East Brady for 20 years.

He owned and operated Wilson's Tree Trimming and Wilson's Hilltop Outboard Motor Repair.

He was a past member of the First Presbyterian Church in East Brady.

A World War II veteran, he ws a corporal with the Third Battalion, Eighth Marines, Second Marine Division, U.S. Marine Corps in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. He participated in action at Tinian from July 27 to Aug. 19, 1944, and on Okinawa from April 1 to April 5, 1945, and May 30 to July 23, 1945.

He was awarded a Purple Heart and was a recipient of the Certificate of Satisfactory Service and a Good Conduct Medal.

Mr. Wilson is survived by three daughters, Shirley Diane Shick and her husband, Kenneth, of Templeton, Susan Rankin and her husband, Alan, of LaGrande, Ore., and Trudy Craig and her husband, Dale, of Madison Township, Clarion County; two sons, Phillip A. Wilson, of Baker City, Ore., and Mark B. Wilson of Sandy Hallow; two sisters, Beatrice McDonald of East Brady and Lois Huggler of Long Island, N.Y., and two brothers, Edgar Wilson of Boise, Idaho, and Ernest Wilson, of Indiana, Pa.

He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 29 years, Gloria E. Bowser, who he married May 28, 1949, and who died April 18, 1979; two brothers, James and George Wilson; and two sisters, Loretta Benton and Priscilla Chipinski.

<B>Wilson</B> — Friends of Philip C. "Bud" Wilson, who died Thursday, Oct. 26, 2006, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the <B>Charles B. Buechele Funeral Home</B>, 105 Fourth St., East Brady.Services will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at the First Presbyterian Church in East Brady with the Rev. John Phillips of the First Church of God in New Bethlehem and the Rev. Bob Moore of the First Presbyterian Church in East Brady officiating.American Legion Posts 402 and 488 will conduct military honors Sunday at the church.A private burial will follow at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Squirrel Hill, Clarion County.
