Lowly Lions sink even lower after loss

DETROIT — The NFL's worst team since 2001 might have just hit rock bottom.

Detroit has lost a lot of games in the past 5Z\x seasons, but it's difficult to imagine one as devastating as the latest — on national TV against a player it drafted and gave up on.

Joey Harrington threw three touchdown passes to help the Miami Dolphins erase a 10-point deficit Thursday in a 27-10 victory over the Lions.

Detroit has lost three straight games during a stretch that some players had predicted would give the Lions their first three-game winning streak in a season since team president Matt Millen arrived.

"Everyone tells us to keep our heads up because we're better than our record, and maybe we are, but we're still 2-9," wide receiver Roy Williams said.

To make matters worse, Harrington felt sorry for the team that drafted him third overall in 2002 and traded him in May for a conditional pick.

"I watched the heads of the players on the other team and watched people leave and it was tough to keep my emotions in check," Harrington said. "I was thinking, 'I remember being on that sideline. I remember what that felt like.' More than anything, there are guys over there that deserve to win, and I really hope they get this turned around."

Harrington entered the game 1-3 in Detroit's traditional game with no TDs, five interceptions and an average of 153 yards passing — a total he surpassed in the first half alone.

Harrington finished 19-of-29 for a Thanksgiving-high 213 yards, three TDs and an interception.
