Tobacco-free slogan contest winners listed
Tobacco Free Butler County recently held an informational event at the Butler County YMCA.
Approximately 70 people attended the event that featured a slogan contest between seventh graders0 in the Seneca Valley and Butler school districts.
The participants were narrowed to six semi-finalists, from which three winners were chosen.
The first place winner was David McBlain of Butler Junior High School. Second place went to Madeleine Burr of Seneca Valley. Third place went to Kylie Rapso, also of Seneca Valley.
The first-place slogan winner will have his slogan incorporated into all of Tobacco Free Butler County's printed materials throughout the community.
Participants also signed a remembrance mural dedicated to those who have died from tobacco-related illnesses. The banner is hung over the North Main Street hill.
Tobacco Free Butler County is a group of professionals and community members concerned about the health of their community. Meetings are held at 4 p.m. on the third Tuesday of the month in the Butler Area Public Library.
