Charles Cranmer Sr.

Charles E. Cranmer Sr., 89, of Butler and Taveres, Fla., died 5:45 a.m. Saturday at Concordia Lutheran Home.

Born June 27, 1917, he was the son of John B. Sr. and Lena Patterson Cranmer.

He was an owner and operator of Cranmer Dairy Farm, the Cranmer Brothers Ice Cream Co., and retired as a building contractor and sub-contractor.

He was a member of the Mount Chestnut Presbyterian Church. He also was a past member of the Butler Farm Show board of directors and a member of the Elks Club in Taveres, Fla.

He is survived by two sons, Charles E. and Terry Lee Cranmer, both of Butler; two step-daughters, Mrs. Calvin R. (Ronna Rettig) Wonderly of Renfrew and Mrs. Ralph G. (Kay Rettig) Tripp of Apex, N.C.; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; two brothers, John B. Cranmer Jr. of Butler and Clarence J. Cranmer of Lake Mary, Fla.; and two sisters, Jane Barkley and Mary Huff, both of Butler.

He married Mabel A. Rider, who died Feb. 20, 1977, and Marion L. Oesterling, who died Oct. 10, 1995.

He was also preceded in death by a sister and a great-grandson.

<B>Cranmer</B> — Friends of Charles E. Cranmer Sr., who died Saturday, Sept. 30, 2006, will be received at <B>Thompson-Miller Funeral Home</B>, 124 E. North St., from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mount Chestnut Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Jeff Curtis officiating.Burial will be in Butler County Memorial Park.The family suggests donations to the Mount Chestnut Presbyterian Church, 727 Old Route 422 West, Butler, PA 16001.
